Sorry, I forgot to put this up yesterday.
- Deuteronomy 29:4 = "minds that understand," a key element
- 5 = this in itself is an amazing miracle
- 6 = the reason the Lord provided food was not for their welfare, but for His glory among them.
- 9 = obedience leads to prosperity
- 19 = we often do this very thing
- 23 = Admah & Zebolin?
- 25-28 = a desolate land because God was angry His people turned against Him
- 30:1-10 = there is redemption available, even in the most desolate place you may to to God and be rescued and brought out. the key again is obedience. just begging God to get you out is not enough. live in obedience to His word.
- 11-13 = God's commands are not all that hard. reaching the heavens or crossing the sea is harder, and yet we've done those things (with ease in our day).
- 14 = "the message is very close at hand, it is on your lips and in your heart"
- 15-19 = the choice is not obedience or disobedience, it is porperity or disaster; life or death; blessings or curses
- 20 = "choose to love the Lord your God and obey Him and commit yourself to Him, for He is your life."
- 31:1-3 = a lesson to "senior saints," Moses was a leader/servant until the very end. there really is no retirement age for servant leadership. well, there is, it's called death.
- 7-8 = Moses passes the mantle to one he's been mentoring for years.
- 19 = I love it that the Lord commanded a song be written and learned to "serve as a witness for Me against them." Take that anti-music as more than just music people.
- 32 = that's a long song, just begging for a Hillsongs arrangement.
- 32:28 = so is America. no other country besides Israel has been so blessed, only to turn away.
- 47 = "These instructions are not empty words—they are your life."
- 48-52 = I'm not so sure Moses' death was really a punishment. the man HAD to be tired of life by them.
- 33:1 = even for all his faults, Moses was still "the man of God"
- 33 (entire chapter) = the myriad statements about each tribe are fascinating, a lot of foreshadowing of their fates going on here
- 34:6 = "The Lord buried him." that would be pretty awesome.
- 9 = "full of the spirit of wisdom" the hallmark of a great leader.
- Joshua 1:8 = how to "live by the book:" study continually, meditate on it day and night, be sure to obey everything written in it.
- 16 = how we should follow
- 2:1 = a Pharisaical mind would have asked, "what were they doing with a prostitute in the first place?" Hey, you need info? Ask a girl who "services" the movers and shakers. That's all I'm sayin'.
- 4 = When a lie really IS the lesser of two evils. Like hiding Jews from Nazis and lying to them. The lie is still a lie, but the alternative atrocity is worse.
- 8-11 = word gets around. don't be surprised when those outside the faith have heard it all already.
- 15 = her home was built into the city walls, the very walls that would later fall flat. her home was spared.
- 24 = what a contrast from the spies' report from 40 before.
- 3:5 = one of the reasons for purity
- 13 = "the river will stand up like a wall" I love that
- 15-16 = I wonder what the people upstream were thinking?
- 17 = DRY GROUND just like the Red Sea
- 4:9 = I wonder if Joshua's stones are still there?
- 5:2 = OUCH!
- 13-15 = probably a pre-incarnate manifestation of Jesus
- 6 (chapter) = evidence that God should be trusted implicitly.
- Luke 11:37-41 = What's your inside look like? Is it as clean as your outside?
- 42 = So you tithe. So what? What about justice and love? Those are more important.
- 46-49 = how terrible it will be for you legalistic fundamentalists, for you crush people under impossible religious demands and never life a finger to help ease the burden!
- 52 = how terrible it will be for you legalistic fundamentalists, for you hide the love of Christ and don't ever experience it yourselves, and prevent others from knowing it.
- 12:1-5 = I don't think Christ is talking about hidden sin being revealed, He's talking about His follower's need to be somwhat secretive (for fear of persecution and death), will soon be taken away. He then warns that, when that moment arrives, they should not fear death, but rather serve and fear the Lord.
- 6-8 = basically, God knows all about what's going on, and He's got you covered.
- 8-9 = this is where the idea of public profession comes from. I know this makes some angry, but I think someone who can publicly deny knowing Christ really doesn't know Him at all.
- 21 = "a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God."
- 25 = "can worries add a single moment to your life?"
- 27 = if Jesus had been born in Texas, this would have been bluebonnets.
- 32 = "it give your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom."
- 33 = the method for storing treasure in heaven: sell your possessions and give to those in need.
- 35-38 = how servants of Christ are to live
- 42-47 = comparison/contrast of faithful vs. unfaithful servants
- 49 = "I have come to set the world on fire!" If we aren't burning, are we serving? Think about the characteristics of fire, and hold yourself/your church up in comparison. Are they similar?
- 53 = being on fire for Christ WILL cause division. If it doesn't cause division, you're doing it wrong. (Not saying division is the goal, it is a byproduct.)
- 13:1-5 = death is not necessarily a punishment for sin, neither is continued life necessarily a reward for holy living. if you're sinning, repent.
- 6-8 = a parable of second chances (you might not get a third)
- 14 = what a stupid moron. how could he be unhappy about…oh wait, he's a Pharisee (ie. look holy, don't actually BE holy)
- 20 = huh, look at that. yeast is not ALWAYs symbolic of sin. it can also be symbolic of the Kingdom of God.
- 24 = it's a NARROW gate
- 30 = the importance of importance is that it's not all that important.
- 32 = "the third day I will accomplish my purpose." awesome
- 14:1-6 = you Pharisees, are you really the cold hearted?
- 7-11 = the practice of humility
- 12-14 = how we should do church
- 15-24 = this is how we should invite others to church
- 25-35 = are you willing to pay the price to follow Christ? most folks are not.
- 15:1-32 = my personal opinion—this blows a hole in Calvinistic doctrine
- Psalm 78 = How to damage your relationship with God: turn your back, refuse to live by His Word, forget what He's done, keep on in your sin and rebel, willfully test Him in your heart, speak against Him.
- 78:32-55 = Israel's example of the results of turning back to God.
- 78:63 = be on fire for God or get set on fire
- 78:65 = "awakened from sleep"?; "a drunken stupor"?
- 79 = amazing how this Psalm, written hundreds of years before Christ, corresponds to what I'm reading right now in the Gospels.
- 80:3 = echoes of Aaron's blessing
- Proverbs 12:19 = truth stand the test of time
- 12:24 = are you a leader or a slave? it's your choice, really.
- 12:25 = "worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up."
- 13:1 = take that unruly teenagers!

This could be something great here.
Let me run this by you.
This has the feel of an online blogging small group. I think that could be done. Each week, we have a passage, chapter, story, or whatnot, that as a blogging community we read together. Each week you post a blog post similar to this one. Others who choose to join in this small group of bloggers, comes to your site, and comments. We can discuss, debate, and dissect the scripture together. Experience God's word in a new way, together.
So often we just read as bloggers, but we could be a community that grows together.
It's my thoughts, let me know what you think.

@Kyle: I think this has some great potential. Maybe this is something you should host on your blog (I'll help promote it heavily here), so that we can drive some more traffic your way.
I would be more than willing to participate. How's that sound?

Jeff, that would be fine. When I found this post i thought of a small group. However, I did not want to host something like that that would look similar to your "Bible Journey" and for you to believe I was poaching ideas.
Anyhow, I will look into it, and also if you have an input/ideas of what you personally think this should look like, I'd love to have all of them.
Again, it's sounds great.
