worshipconfessional Worship Confessional: May 18, 2008

Yesterday was our last day in our iLife series on the spiritual disciplines. As the discipline highlighted was "celebration," we spent the entire corporate gathering time in celebration of the blessings of God, and the milestones He's helped us achieve. We recognized and celebrated graduates from high school and college, we celebrated our volunteers from the previous year, and we celebrated the faithfulness of God and His people by burning the note of debt on our auditorium.

All in all, a really good day. I decided to stick with familiar tunes for the day, to generate more participation. Say what you want about late 70s through early 90s worship music, but it has "happy fun singing" in spades.

Here's the list:

  • We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise // Kirk Dearman
  • He Has Made Me Glad // Leona Von Brethorst
  • Celebrate Jesus // Gary Oliver
  • We Have Come to Join in Worship // Bible, Atkins, and Moore
  • He is Exalted // Twila Paris (Shane and Shane version)
  • Awesome God // Rich Mullins and Beaker
  • Shout to the Lord // Darlene Zschech
  • Doxology // Thomas Ken (David Crowder version)
  • Victory in Jesus // Eugene Bartlett

James,
That *IS* a retro-list, but I bet it *DID* bring out some participation. You probably earned enough brownie points from the older crowd to do new songs every week for a year!

Fred McKinnons last blog post..Does your church have a “blog policy”?
