Let us worship with reverence and awe for our God is a consuming fire.

I don't know about anybody else, but I had a good day today. We weren't able to have a band rehearsal this week so we had to kind of "wing it" this morning. Not too bad since every song but one was very familiar, and the newest song is one we had already worked on and introduced two weeks ago. We were able to make it through our sound check time pretty efficiently and there were no major hang-ups.
Our Bible study class was like a breath of fresh air today. We are in our second week of doing a chapter by chapter book study. We're in 1 Peter, and last week was an introductory week where basic Bible study methods were explained by working through chapter 1 in class. We were all to study chapter 2 during the week and come back with observations. This is the kind of Bible study class I love, getting in and actually studying the Word and interacting with what you learn rather than just sitting in a chair and listening to a "lesson." Much more fun, practical, and beneficial. Our Bible study class attendance was also really good. A few more people and we would have maxed out our space. What a welcome change!
Corporate worship was still a little down, but much better than last week's numbers. We did some old favorite hymns, a couple of which were turned in on our song request forms. Everything in the first set was extremely familiar to probably 85% of folks, and we added some country flair to one of them that got the crowd clapping. Once we moved on to "He Has Made Me Glad," the congregation tried to continue clapping, but let's just say there are quite a few rhythmically challenged folks.
We pulled out "Facedown" after introducing it two weeks ago, and I saw a good bunch of people really engaging. I love looking out over the congregation and seeing people losing themselves in communion with God and not worrying about what's going on around them. Chris Tomlin's "Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)" is always a real treat, but was somewhat overdone. I let it lie for a few months, and brought it back by request.
Here's today's list:
