Let us worship with reverence and awe for our God is a consuming fire.

I haven't done thing in a few weeks—for various and sundry reason—but I'll try to get back in the groove.
Visitor wise, we seemed to have quite a few, and I'm hoping it was partially as a result of an increased awareness among our people for the need to be reaching out personally.
Yesterday was also the first Sunday of my 2009 plan concerning music selection. I've done what someothers out there have done and narrowed our song list down to less than 100 songs. I will mainly choose from that list throughout the year—not counting seasonal needs, special events, special requests, new songs, etc. I'm hoping this will allow the band greater creativity from week to week since they will have definitive list to rehearse, and will foster greater repetition of newer songs for the benefit of the congregation.
I'll let you know as the year goes on how this is working for us. I'm definitely not married to the idea, but am going to give it a shot.
One cool thing of note from yesterday was a visit from our praise band's original drummer. He had moved to California some years ago, and has since gotten married and has moved back in the area. We'll be going out to dinner with them tonight to catch up.
Here's yesterday's set list:

Hey Jeff,
Glad to hear about that drummer. I knew you'd be praying about that. I'll pray for ya too!

No more than 100 song list is what we try to stick by it works well for us! It sure helps the people stay familiar with the songs. When one starts to get worn out or over used we put it on the back burner and add in a new one.

We have tried to stick to around that many songs. I found it not only helps the band but also the congregation to learn songs, become familiar with them and be able to worship with them. Let me know how it goes for you.
